The college bears the name Sandford Fleming, an engineer and inventor of Scottish descent who is arguably best known for his contributions to the idea of Universal Standard Time and who was knighted by Queen Victoria in 1897. Fleming College is famous for its outstanding business, museum management and cultural heritage, and social services departments in addition to its environmental and natural resource sciences. This college offers more than 130 full-time programs including diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificates and degree programs. Students have the option to select the different courses based on their areas of interest due to the range of disciplines.
