Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is a leading nationally recognized Metropolitan University established in 1957. It is an extension of the SIU Carbondale campus.
It opened its peck classroom building and Lovejoy library in the midst of 2660 acres of rolling land and woods in 1965. It offers a broad range of undergraduate and graduate degrees in the arts and sciences, business, education, engineering and nursing along with professional degrees in dental medicine and pharmacy.
SIUE is an average size institution offering over 350 highly acclaimed undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs. Having more than 400 international students from over 50 different nations, it offers a friendly environment and strong support for international students in terms of admissions, immigration, academic advising, career placement and cultural integration. The university also offers a variety of fully furnished and air conditioned housing options including Bluff hall, Prairie Hall and Woodland Hall with a choice of a shared bedroom, deluxe private bedroom, or deluxe suite bedroom (Woodland Hall only). SIUE’s lovejoy library has a collection of over 800,000 copies of nearly 600,000 book titles; over 1,675,000 microfilm units; 10,000 electronic book titles; 26,000+ periodical subscriptions, including almost 23,800 electronic journals; in excess of 33,000 audio-visual units, including some 5,000 video/DVDs.
