University at Albany SUNY is a public research university that was established in 1844 with campuses in Albany, Rensselaer, and Guilderland, New York. University at Albany SUNY occupies 610 acres of land, built for both academic and non-academic purposes.
University at Albany SUNY is a public research university that offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs. The campus is divided into two areas, namely the Uptown Campus and the Downtown Campus. The Uptown Campus is the main campus and located at 1400 Washington Avenue in Albany. The main library, Performing Arts Centre, and the Atmospheric Sciences Research Centre are all located at the campus. Besides, the main library, the other three libraries are also within the premises. The second area of the campus, which is known as the Downtown Campus was developed in 1909. This campus comprises of the Rockefeller College of Policy and Public Affairs, College of Information Technology, School of Criminal Justice, and the School of Social Welfare. In addition, a new campus, Health Sciences Campus was opened across 87 acres of land and it houses the Cancer Research Centre and the School of Public Health. The university has nine schools and colleges. The wide list of courses is categorized into various institutes and centers. The variety of subjects gives students a huge scope to choose among the courses as per their area of interest. Some of the famous centers are Centre for Applied Historical Research, Biological Imaging Centre, Centre for Economic Research, Centre for Jewish Languages, Centre for Astronomical Observatory, Centre for X-Ray Optics, and the Centre for Neuroscience Research. It is in affiliation with APLU and the State University of New York.
